Good Shepherd offers children and adults the opportunity to learn more about their faith Sunday mornings at 9 o’clock. Children from four years old to fifth grade gather on the third floor to hear the Bible stories that form the foundation of Christian faith. A storyteller relates the Biblical narrative, introducing the children to the important people and events of the Old and New Testaments. The children continue to explore the stories over three Sundays, each week delving more deeply into the narrative through activities as diverse as community service, cooking, and painting. The time and activities give the children the chance to live into the stories – something that will enrich their faith throughout their lives. The schedule of stories and special activities for Sunday school are posted in the parish hall.
At 9:50am, the Sunday school leaders draw learning time to a close. At this time, children through the second grade are invited to attend Children’s Chapel on the third floor. While parents attend the 10 o’clock worship service, the children learn Bible stories in child friendly ways. At the Peace, the children are brought into the sanctuary to join their parents for Eucharist. Children’s Chapel is offered every Sunday except the first Sunday of each month. A special children’s sermon is offered in the worship service on these first Sundays.
For children under four years of age, Nursery care is available during the 10 o’clock worship service. The nursery is located in the second floor.
Learning about faith is also available to adults at 9 o’clock on Sunday mornings. Morning Call is the forum for discussing Christian faith and life.
Parents and grandparents are encouraged to see what the young people of Good Shepherd are learning and doing every Sunday. Please contact Melissa Pechey with any questions.
