Friends of The Good Shepherd,

I hope you have had a good week!  On Sunday we will be having a blessing of the animals at the 10AM Service.  Please see the announcement below for more information about the blessing of the animals.  There will not be a blessing of the animals at the 8AM Service.  Next Tuesday is my celebration of new ministry, at which I will be instituted as Rector.  Hopefully you planning to be present.  I am very excited, and look forward to celebrating with you!

Parish Announcements and Reminders


Pastor Dan's Institution as Rector

On Tuesday, October 4th, at 7PM the Right Reverend Gayle Elizabeth Harris,
Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese of Massachusetts will preside at the worship
service celebrating the continuing ministry of the Reverend Daniel Bernier
and The Church of the Good Shepherd.  We will renew our baptismal covenant
and institute the Reverend Daniel Bernier as the rector of The Church of the
Good Shepherd.  Please mark your calendars and plan to be present at this
parish celebration.


St. Francis Day Blessing of the Animals at Good Shepherd

On Sunday, October 2nd, there will be a Blessing of the Animals during the
10AM Service.  You are encouraged to bring your animal companions to the
church for the service (for safety purposes, please have your pet leashed or
in a carrier), if they are not able to be present due to their shy or
aggressive personalities please feel free to bring a picture of them for the
blessing.  Children of all ages are welcome to bring a stuffed animal friend
for a blessing as well.  The Blessing of the Animals will take place only at
the 10AM Service, and not at the 8AM Service.

Hello everyone!  What a great celebration on Tuesday evening!  It was truly a celebration of not only my ministry, but our ministry together.  Thanks to all who participated.  I feel very blessed to be the rector of the Good Shepherd faith community. 

This coming weekend is the Cranberry Harvest Fest, at which we will be selling cranberry apple crisp.  This is one of our major fund raisers.  If you haven’t signed up to help, it’s not too late.  For more information about how you can help, call Judy Govoni @ 508-295-4187. 

Due to the Columbus Day Holiday weekend, there will not be Church School on Sunday (October 9^th).

Parish Announcements and Reminders

A Celebration of New Ministry Thank You!

I want to thank all of you who participated in my celebration of new ministry, as I was instituted as the Rector.  It was a wonderful, joyful celebration.  Thank you Choir and musicians for the beautiful music.  Thank you ECW for the social and the goodies after the Service.  Thank you presenters of the symbol of my ministry among you.  Thank you liturgical ministers.  Thank you Search Committee and Vestry in you calling me to serve you.  I feel blessed to have been called to serve you as Rector!  Please continue to pray for me, as I do for you each day.

Cranberry Harvest Festival – Parish Fund Raiser

On Saturday, October 8^th, and Sunday, October 9^th, Good Shepherd will have a cranberry apple crisp booth at the Makepeace Harvest Festival. This is one of our major fund raisers, and everyone’s help is needed! We need volunteers to make apple crisp and to work at the booth. If you can help, please speak with Judy Govoni and sign up on the sign-up sheets in the Parish Hall. As has been said so many times before, many hands make the work fun!

Vestry Meeting

The next meeting of the Vestry is Thursday, October 13^th, beginning at 6:30PM.  Possible agenda items need to be submitted to either Chuck Soule (Senior Warden) or Pastor Dan by October 6^th (one week prior to the meeting).

Parish Usher (Hospitality Ministers) Meeting & Refresher Training

On Sunday, October 16^th, from 9-9:45AM there will be a meeting of the parish ushers (Hospitality Ministers).  The meeting will be held in the parish hall.  The meeting will be lead by Judy Govoni and Pastor Dan.  We will be discussing the procedures for the Hospitality Ministry, and Pastor Dan will be speaking with us about the ministry of hospitality.  All ushers are asked to be present in order to receive important information and in order to share your thoughts as well.  If you are unable to be present please speak with Pastor Dan about your situation.  On Sunday, October 23 there will be a blessing for the parish Hospitality Ministers at the 8AM and 10AM Services.

Youth Group Family Nights

Both the Middle School and the High School Youth Groups are hosting Family Nights (Middle School on October 12^th and High School on November 7^th) from 5:30-7PM.  Please note the change in the dates from what was previously announced in the parish newsletter.  These Family Nights will include dinner, and will give parents the opportunity to check out what is happening with our Youth Groups.  If you have a child who is in Youth Group, please plan to attend.  Older and younger siblings are also welcome.  Please confirm your attendance with Dale Winters, including how many are going to attend from your family, so we can plan for dinner.

Spaghetti Dinner Fund Raiser for Our Youth Groups

On Friday, October 14^th, from 5-7PM the Good Shepherd Youth Groups invite you to a spaghetti supper in the Church Hall.  The Supper includes beverages, salad, spaghetti and dessert.  Please plan to attend and bring family and friends!
