What were (are) we doing when we were (are) at our best as an inviting, evangelizing congregation?

We seem to be at our best just after change: rector, building, fund-raiser, etc. These are occasions that appear to energize us.

When we have our Fairs we band together as one body and present an inviting group of people who enjoy one another.

Our concerts present a wonderful opportunity for the community and we are very welcoming with our receptions afterwards.

Good Shepherd's Table always presents us as an inviting congregation and this is done by just a few, very dedicated parishoners.

I feel the outgoingness of our members at events and coffee hour etc. shows love that newcomers feel when they walk in the door. That is very important

I think Camp Creation, with Harriet Donahue at the helm, and her magnificent team of teachers, was a huge success. It was the first time trying this and a huge success. Historically, we have had the outreach of Good Shepherd's Table. When this first started, I thought it would be a financial problem, but with Pat Probert's talents of grant writing, she has arrested by fears. Also so many people have helped during the actual suppers and extended it to a community effort.

I feel Good Shepherd is at it's best inviting when new parishioners come for the first time. I feel the newcomers are very comfortable with the Rector and the parishioners are very friendly and outgoing trying to get to know them and be inviting. The majority of newcomers come back and stay.

We are at our best when we are educating our young people, ministering to our homebound, reaching out to the community at large without question, singing joyously along with the choir at services, greeting newcomers and making them feel welcome and loving each other despite our diverse political, social and economic levels.

I believe we are at our best when doing the simple things like speaking to new visitors and making them feel welcome. I would not have made a second visit if it were not for the friendly greetings of so many of those in the parish.
